Important Dates for MD Admissions
December
Dec. 15: Priority Deadline for Financial Aid Applications for early MD Acceptees
To be considered for need-based grants from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, the Office of Financial Aid requires that applicants accepted in the first cohort of MD acceptance decisions complete the following items no later than Dec. 15:
- Free Application For Federal Student Aid (using school code 001739)
- Incoming MD University Aid Application
- Verification of Student (and Spouse) Income Worksheet and Tax Return
Verification of Parents’ Income Worksheet
Please check out the Apply for Aid page for further information. Please note that applicants must first accept their offer of admission via the Feinberg Applicant Portal before their financial aid application can be processed.
January
The Criminal Background Check process is initiated by Certiphi Screening Services; Certiphi e-mails accepted students on a rolling basis beginning in January. Background checks need to be completed no later than by July 1 of the matriculation year.
Late January
Starting in late January and thereafter on a rolling basis, financial aid packages will be released to accepted applicants; notification will be sent via Northwestern email.
February
Feb. 20, 2024
AMCAS Choose Your Medical School Tool becomes available. At this point you may now select at which school you plan to enroll.
Late February: Second Look Registration
Registration for Feinberg's Second Look 2024 (our accepted students "revisit", occurring April 11-12, 2024) typically opens late February (accepted students will receive an email with information) and will be due in mid-March.
March
By March 10: Financial Aid Applications due for MD Acceptees

April 11-12, 2024
Second Look provides an opportunity for accepted prospective students to sample the rich variety of learning experiences available at Feinberg and to meet with other prospective students, current students and faculty.
April 15
Deadline to narrow your acceptances to Top 3 in AMCAS Choose Your Medical School Tool.
Late April
The Pre-Matriculation Module will be made available in the Feinberg Applicant Portal for accepted students. Please begin reviewing the pre-matriculation requirements and additional information available in the module to facilitate the onboarding process.
May
May 1
Matriculating students should begin checking their @northwestern.edu email address on a weekly basis and begin work on Feinberg’s pre-matriculation requirements, as outlined in the Pre-Matriculation Module in the Feinberg Applicant Portal.
- Plan to enroll designation in the AMCAS Choose Your Medical School Tool meaning changes. At this point, you can only hold an acceptance at one school. You must decline all other acceptance offers (you may remain on waitlists).
- Commit to enroll option becomes available in the AMCAS Choose Your Medical School Tool. Choosing this designation indicates that you are fully committed to attending that particular school. Choosing this option also means that you must remove yourself from all waitlist positions.
April 30
- You can only hold one acceptance (Feinberg), but you may remain on waitlists. If Feinberg receives notification from AMCAS that you plan to enroll or commit to enroll at another institution, Feinberg has the right to withdraw your seat from our class.
June
Matriculating students should continue checking their "@northwestern.edu" email address on a weekly basis and continue working on Feinberg’s pre-matriculation requirements.
July
Matriculating students should continue checking their "@northwestern.edu" email address on a weekly basis and working on Feinberg’s pre-matriculation requirements.
July 1
Deadline to submit your final official transcript showing that you received your bachelor’s degree. Transcripts should be sent to the Office of MD Admissions, preferably electronically from your school to med-admissions@northwestern.edu or (if needed) via mail (further information can be found in the Pre-Matriculation Module). Please note that the transcripts that AMCAS requested from you at the beginning of the application process were used for their application verification only and were not forwarded to our office.
July 8, 2024
Feinberg requires you to select "commit to enroll" via the AMCAS Choose Your Medical School Tool as well as submitting the Feinberg-specific commit to enroll contract by July 8. Failure to do so on AMCAS and with Feinberg will result in Feinberg rescinding your offer of admission. At this time, you must also withdraw your application from all other institutions.
