Psychiatric Medication During Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Different psychiatric medications have different risk profiles for use in pregnancy, so it is important to work closely with your psychiatrist to determine the type of medication that is best for you. While risks of medications should be considered when making a decision regarding medication use during pregnancy, it is also important to consider that untreated mental illness also carries risks to both the mother and her infant. A comprehensive consideration of the risks and benefits of various treatment options, in concert with a psychiatrist, is recommended.
Information regarding potential risks of various medications during pregnancy can be found on Mother to Baby.
