Interview Visit Detail

For those invited to the interview weekend, please see below for the schedule and details on what to expect.

 General Information

Interview Format

All interviews will take place virtually for the 2025 season. We will strive to provide you with a virtual experience that offers many of the same benefits as an in-person visit. You will still have the opportunity to interview one-on-one with our world class faculty. You will also meet with DGP administration and current students.  Accepted students will be given the option of an in-person campus visit.

Dates

Invitations to interview will start going out December 16 and will continue until all interview slots are full. Interview and in-person visit dates will be posted here when available.

Dress

The program does not require formal dress for the interviews. We suggest business casual attire; suits are not necessary. We suggest a plain background for your Zoom. You may wish to consider a virtual background if you have that capability.

Group Size

We expect approximately 35-40 applicants on each of the virtual interview dates. Some sessions will be for everyone, and for some we will break into smaller (8-10) person groups. All interviews with faculty are one-on-one.  We expect in person visits will be in smaller groups.

Special Accommodations

All applicants invite to interview will be sent a survey that will ask about accommodations for special needs. If accommodations are required, please fill out the survey and follow up with us. The program will endeavor to provide the necessary accommodations and, when needed, consult with Northwestern University’s AccessibleNU office to meet the needs. If the applicant is admitted and matriculates to Northwestern, the AccessibleNU office is available to provide possible services and accommodations to the student. The office may be contacted by email at accessiblenu@northwestern.edu or by phone at 847-467-5530.

Applicants who anticipate problems with internet connectivity, connecting to Zoom, or finding a quiet space to conduct the interview should let us know by email so that we can make appropriate accommodations.

 Tentative Schedule

We are still working out final logistics for our interviews and in-person visits, so please check back again as we get closer to the interview dates. All sessions and activities will occur between 10am and 8pm Chicago time on Thursday and Friday. We expect these times to work well for applicants in North America, but if you are joining us from a very different time zone, please let us know in the pre-interview survey. We will work with you to make sure you get all the necessary events at a reasonable time. You can expect the following events:

Introductory overview of the program from DGP administration

One-on-one interviews with 4 faculty members

Informal faculty meet-and-greet in small groups

Student small group meetings

Student housing talk and virtual Chicago tour

 Dual Degree Applicants

Dual degree (PhD/MPH) applicants will have additional sessions to discuss the dual degree program and meet with MPH leadership. These will be scheduled once we have your PhD schedule information.
