Application Process

MS-RSM applicants are required to use the TGS online application. Information about the online application process and how to apply can be found on The Graduate School's websiteApplication submission requires a non-refundable fee of $95. Applicants should follow all directions in the online application, especiallyy for sending transcripts, test scores and letters of recommendation. Prospective students are encouraged to contact program leadership with questions about the application process.

Deadlines

Applications for Fall 2025 are now open. The Early Admission deadline is December 31, 2024. The final deadline is March 31, 2025.

The program only admits students for matriculation during fall quarters. Students may select the thesis or non-thesis track at the time of application submission or after receiving a positive admissions decision. Students who are not sure which track they should pursue, may select "undecided" when completing the application. If admitted to the program, students have up until November of their matriculating year to make a final decision on which track they would like to pursue.

Applications from international students are encouraged. International students are required to demonstrate English language proficiency, which may require a standardized test. International applicants are responsible for planning accordingly to meet application deadlines.

Previous Academic Transcripts

Upload unofficial copies of your previous academic ttranscripts. Admitted students are required to provide official copies of transcripts during their first quarter of study.

Academic Statement

Describe your academic interests and explain why you wish to pursue graduate studies in the MS-RSM. Explain how your academic and professional background has prepared you for graduate study, and include any research, training, or educational experiences that align with the field of reproductive science and medicine. Describe how our program will help you achieve your intellectual and professional goals. Please make sure to address any scholarly questions you wish to explore in the program and name any specific faculty members in this program whose research interests align with your own. 

Personal Statement

The Graduate School and the MS-RSM values diverse backgrounds, approaches, and perspectives, understanding them as essential ingredients for true academic excellence. As a Northwestern graduate student, how could you contribute to an intellectual community that prioritizes equity, inclusion, belonging, and cultural humility? Your answer may draw upon past or present experiences, whether in academic work, extracurricular or community activities, or everyday life.

CV or Resume

Submit a current CV or resume. This information helps the program learn more about your extracurricular activities and professional experiences that are not included in your transcript.

Letters of Recommendation

The MS-RSM program requires two letters of recommendation. Letters are electronically submitted through the application system. Letters are recommendation are due on the application deadline and applicants are responsible for contacting recommenders and ensuring that deadlines are met.

Writing Sample

The writing sample will be a one-page written response to a prompt provided by the program in the application. The response should be uploaded electronically to the application portal.

Interviews & Acceptance

MS-RSM will review complete applications and invite qualified applicants to virtual interviews. Acceptance decisions are delivered withinn the online application portal and by correspondence from program leadership. Applicants are required to provided enrollment decision by the date listed in the acceptance letter.
