Current Fellows
Petra Voigt, MD
Second-Year Fellow
Dr. Petra Voigt earned her undergraduate degree in Biology at St. Olaf College. She then obtained an MD with a Distinction in Research from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at University of California Davis, where she was a chief resident. Dr. Voigt’s research interests include outcomes of high-volume gynecologic surgeons, endometriosis, and surgical education. She is passionate about patient advocacy and served as a legislative committee member with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
John Hayden, MD
First-Year Fellow
Dr. John Hayden completed his undergraduate studies at Vassar College where he majored in Biology with a focus on neuroendocrinology and traumatic brain injury. He then pursued a masters degree at Boston University School of Medicine where he continued to study traumatic brain injury in professional football players. He subsequently stayed at BUSM to receive his MD. He went on to complete his Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Stanford. Dr. Hayden’s research interests include new applications of technology in healthcare such as telemedicine. He is passionate about providing care to the LGBTQIA+ community, of which he is a proud member.Recent Fellows
Lulu Yu, MD
Dr. Lulu Yu received her undergraduate degree in Psychology at Washington University in St. Louis in 2013. She went on to attend Washington University School of Medicine, where she also completed a Master of Population Health Sciences. Throughout her undergraduate and graduate studies, she developed an interest in health disparities and medical education, which she brought to her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Washington University in St. Louis/Barnes-Jewish Hospital from 2018 to 2022. Dr. Yu's research interests include health equity and access to minimally invasive surgical approaches, as well as quality improvement.Princess Urbina, MD
Dr. Princess Urbina received her MS in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Central Florida. She received her MD from Florida State University College of Medicine and completed her OB/GYN training at The George Washington University. After completion of her fellowship, she joined the academic faculty at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center as their newest minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon.
Nisha Garg, MD
Dr. Nisha Garg grew up in the suburbs of Detroit, MI. She obtained her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and her MD from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. During medical school, she also completed a master's degree in Genomic Medicine. She completed her OB/GYN residency at University of California Irvine Medical Center. Dr. Garg is currently a minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon with the Arizona Gynecology Consultants group in Phoenix, AZ.
Kayla Nixon, MD
Dr. Kayla Nixon grew up in Jacksonville, Florida. She earned a BS in Biology at Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans and attended Mayo Clinic College of Medicine for medical school. She also obtained a master’s degree in Art History from the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, concentrating on arts and health/hospital art programming. She completed her OB/GYN residency at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Nixon is currently a minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon and an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL.
Jessica Traylor, MD
Dr. Jessica Traylor obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her MD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. She completed her OB/GYN residency at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Traylor is currently practicing as a minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon in the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group in Silver Spring, MD.
Jaclyn Friedman, MD
Dr. Jaclyn Friedman obtained her undergraduate degree from Tulane University and her MD from New York Medical College. She completed her OB/GYN residency at Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine. Dr. Friedman is currently a minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon at Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, MI.
Farah Alvi, MD, MS
Dr. Farah Alvi obtained medical education form the University of Toledo College of Medicine. She completed her residency in OB/GYN at Resurrection St. Joseph. She is currently a minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon in the Section of Gynecology and Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Chicago.
Laura Glaser, MD
Dr. Laura Matthews Glaser obtained her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and her medical degree from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She completed her OB/GYN residency at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University. Dr. Glaser is currently a minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon and Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL.
