Disaster Relief
Dr. Chan was a lead co-author of “Disaster Relief 2.0: The Future of Information Sharing in Humanitarian Emergencies,” published in March 2011. The report was commissioned by the United Nations Foundation and Vodafone Foundation Technology Partnership. A team from the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative, of which Dr. Chan is a member, led the development of this report. The result is an in-depth look at the relationships between disaster relief and networks, new technology, volunteerism, information management, and examines how those relationships fit into the context of humanitarian response to disasters. Also highlighted are current challenges and possible frameworks for the future.
