Galter Health Sciences Library & Learning Center will present public health posters from the early 20th century. Each poster reflects the health concerns, cultural norms, and artistic styles of its time. In today's world, filled with digital health messages, these historic posters offer a glimpse into how design has played a significant role in shaping public health awareness.

Poster sessions give presenters an opportunity to discuss their project/research and exchange ideas with colleagues and new audiences. The purpose is to visually stimulate interest on collaborative research approaches to health research. We hope it will promote conversations and networking among session attendees.

Anyone is invited to submit an abstract for presentation (including faculty, staff, trainees, students, community partners, and those from outside institutions). The focus of this poster session will be to highlight research and projects relevant to population and public health.

Poster Application Process

Due dates for abstract submission is as follows:

DEADLINE to submit was Monday, March 10, 2025

Posters that have previously been submitted to other conferences/poster sessions are eligible to be re-submitted for inclusion in the IPHAM Public Health Summit Poster Session.

We will notify applicants on the status of their poster submission on a rolling basis.

Poster Instructions

The IPHAM Public Health Summit planning committee will provide large tack boards on which to display your poster.

It is strongly recommended that posters be professionally designed and printed to project a positive image of the presenter's work.  Posters must not exceed 6 feet in width and 4 feet in height  (5 feet wide by 3 feet high is recommended). Posters will be displayed on frames that are 6 feet wide by 4 feet high and secured by push pins supplied at the event.

Participants should be available at their poster to discuss their research with attendees and potentially, judges, during the poster session.

Set Up

Poster and table check in will open at 8:00 AM on April 2. Participants may set up their posters from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Posters must be ready for viewing by 10:00 a.m.

Awards & Judging

Upon submitting an abstract, each participant will be entered into the poster session competition. Abstracts will be reviewed and rated prior to the event. The judging staff is comprised of senior IPHAM faculty. On the day of the event, judges will visit the posters of the top-rated abstracts to make their final rankings. Those selected as finalists will be notified prior to the event and are expected to remain near their posters to answer questions from judges during the judging if possible.

Judges will present the Rowland "Bing" Chang Award for Excellence in Research.
