Why did you choose to attend Northwestern MSTP?
The atmosphere of Northwestern MSTP exuded warmth and inclusivity, assuring me of abundant support from both faculty and peers. I was genuinely impressed by the humility and achievements of everyone I encountered, which I knew would create an ideal learning environment. Moreover, the biomedical engineering program was very strong, particularly in nanotechnology, so I knew I would receive great training during my graduate phase. I also loved that Northwestern was in the heart of Chicago, allowing me the opportunity to enjoy everything the city has to offer!
Tell us what you've enjoyed most about your current phase in the program.
I've enjoyed having intellectual independence and autonomy during graduate school. It's been very rewarding to be able to formulate and test my own hypotheses and envision how my findings can make an impact in the scientific/medical community.
What do you enjoy most about living in Chicago?
I absolutely love living right next door to the lake! Being from right outside D.C., the closest swimmable body of water is three hours away. Running along the lake and visiting the beach every morning with my black Labrador is my favorite part of the day and helps me clear my mind before going into the lab.
