Student Interest Groups
Student-led organizations are essential to building a vibrant, inclusive campus community. Our student groups provide unique opportunities to expand perspectives on holistic healthcare, develop skills in patient-centered approaches, and deepen understanding of wellness—enhancing both personal and professional growth.
Lifestyle and Integrative Medicine Interest Group (LIMIG)
The newly formed Lifestyle and Integrative Medicine Interest Group at Feinberg aims to educate students about integrative medicine, connect them with the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine at Northwestern, and create a supportive space to explore various healing and self-care practices. By fostering these skills, LIMIG empowers students to deliver more holistic, patient-centered care.
This organization focuses on:
- Patient-Centered Medical Care: By emphasizing holistic and individualized approaches to health, LIMIG empowers future physicians to address the unique needs and preferences of each patient. Our events and educational initiatives teach students in a way that promotes shared decision-making, empathy, and respect, ensuring that patient values and lifestyles are at the forefront of medical care. Through workshops, guest lectures, and community projects, we prepare students to deliver compassionate, personalized care that treats the patient’s mind, body, and spirit.
- Personal Awareness & Self-Care: LIMIG provides resources and support for students to develop healthy habits, manage stress, and maintain a balanced lifestyle. Through wellness workshops and events centered around mindfulness and/or physical activity, we encourage self-reflection and personal growth. By prioritizing self-care, we aim to cultivate resilient and mindful future physicians who can sustain their well-being while providing exceptional care to their patients.
- Medical Knowledge and Scholarship: We are committed to providing students with research-backed information on integrative approaches to health. Through seminars, research opportunities, and collaborations with experts at the Osher Center of Integrative Medicine, we foster deep understanding and ensure that students are well-equipped with the knowledge and skills to innovate and excel in providing comprehensive, evidence-based care. Through connection with faculty, we provide students with chances to delve further into research in the field and to learn about fellowships and other career opportunities.
