COVID-19 and the Epidemiological Response with Chad Achenbach, MD, MPH
As an epidemiologist and infectious disease physician, Chad Achenbach, MD, MPH, has shared his expertise on a variety of global public health crises such as Ebola and Zika outbreaks. In this episode, he sheds light on the global emergence, epidemiology and response to COVID-19.
"We are on an exponential growth phase of cases and deaths due to this infection right now. The only way to slow this down, right now, with no vaccine, no treatment and no other way to block this virus transmitting from one person to another, is through basic epidemiologic means."

Episode Notes
As COVID-19 spreads across much of the world, the need for social distancing, wearing masks in public, quarantining the sick and other epidemiologic measures is paramount, according to Chad Achenbach, MD, MPH.
Achenbach spoke about the large scale of the pandemic and its rising death toll. He reviews the timeline of the spread of the infection from late December in China to present-day spread in the United States. He then details how hotspot cities, such as Chicago, are responding to the pandemic and describes current and potential epidemiological responses that could slow the spread of the virus.
