Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT)
Our DPT program prepares physical therapists to serve as generalist practitioners in a variety of clinical, classroom and community settings.
DPT/PhD Engineering Dual Degree
This dual-degree program marries two disciplines for one clear benefit: improved rehabilitation therapies and technologies for patients with movement disorders.
DPT/ Master of Public Health Dual Degree
This dual-degree program prepares physical therapists for careers as leaders who will span the boundaries between physical therapy and public health.
PhD in Neuroscience - Movement & Rehabilitation Science Program
The PhD program focuses laboratory training in a wide array of research interests, all focused on movement and its rehabilitation.
Residencies
In partnership with the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, Northwestern University offers two accredited physical therapy residencies specializing in neurologic and orthopaedic physical therapy. Residents may also opt to add the Master's Program in Health Services and Outcomes Research to their plan of study.
IREK12
The Interdisciplinary Rehabilitation Engineering Career Development Program (IREK12) in Movement and Rehabilitation Sciences was created by a consortium of leading institutions in the field, including Northwestern University and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. Its mission is to recruit and train scholars with engineering and other quantitative backgrounds to become successful rehabilitation scientists in basic, translational and/or clinical research.
