Diversity and Inclusion Council

The Diversity and Inclusion Council at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine works to foster a more inclusive and equitable environment within our community. With thoughtful leadership and innovative approaches, we spearhead a range of critical initiatives including:

  • Facilitating conflict resolution.
  • Conducting climate surveys.
  • Organizing campus-wide discussions.
  • Promoting cross-cultural awareness.
  • Developing educational opportunities to address bias.
We aim to ensure that all students, faculty and staff are equipped with the knowledge and skills to contribute to a truly diverse and inclusive medical education environment.

Our Mission and Responsibilities

  • Elevate important issues related to diversity, inclusion and equity to the Vice Dean of Diversity & Inclusion
  • Provide thought leadership on current and proposed initiatives including climate surveys, campus-wide discussions, cross-cultural awareness and learning opportunities for students, faculty and staff
  • Advise on the best approaches to attract, retain and develop diverse students, faculty and staff
  • Recommend approaches to ensure that ongoing efforts around diversity and inclusion are well-coordinated

Council Membership

Our council draws strength from its varied perspectives, bringing together key stakeholders from across Feinberg. Our memberships spans the varied experiences and roles within our institution: students, residents, postdoctoral trainees, faculty, administrators and allied health professionals.
