Student to Resident Institutional Vehicle for Excellence (STRIVE) Mentorship
To help address the challenges of underrepresentation in medicine, the Student to Resident Institutional Vehicle for Excellence (STRIVE) mentorship program facilitates informal, yet structured, relationships between medical students and trainees from historically marginalized groups. These relationships with near-peers build a foundation of academic, professional and social support that helps students successfully propel through their years at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
STRIVE mentors hold curriculum review sessions and organize mentorship, networking and social events for students throughout the academic year.
In a survey evaluating STRIVE, nearly all responding residents agreed that the program made them a better mentor and nearly all participants said STRIVE was of value to them.
