The Minority Faculty Association at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is committed to enhancing the recruitment, retention and promotion of underrepresented minority (URM) faculty through mentorship, professional development and networking.

Objectives

  • Build formalized mentorship pathway programs for URM faculty, especially junior faculty, to promote leadership role attainment and to encourage academic and personal growth for URM faculty.
  • Increase the number of URM faculty at the medical school, via both recruitment and retention efforts, to create an inclusive environment that counteracts potential subconscious bias and diversifies the physician workforce.
  • Develop meaningful, data-driven and feasible diversity and inclusion goals across Northwestern Medicine to establish a knowledge-based culture of inclusion.

Member Activities

  • Quarterly business meetings.
  • Guest speaker discussions on research, academic promotion, leadership development and other topics of interest to the membership.
  • Collaborative research studies.
  • Biannual social gatherings for professional networking.
