Northwestern Out Network Chicago
Northwestern University's Out Network Chicago seeks to create and promote LGBTQ+ inclusive spaces and foster community among members of the university and Northwestern Medicine based at the Chicago campus. We will sustain this mission by engaging with our members and the greater Chicago community through quarterly social and educational events, uplifting the experiences of those with historically marginalized gender identities or sexual orientations, and highlighting shared LGBTQIA+ initiatives.
The group began several years ago, informally meeting after work, and quickly became a regular social networking group for LGBTQIA+ faculty, staff, students, fellows and residents on the Northwestern University Chicago campus. The Chicago Out Network currently draws participants from the medical school, law school, graduate school and affiliated hospitals and clinics.
The group's meetings are supported by Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation, Ann and Robert H. Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Shirley Ryan AbilityLab and OUTLaw. It is our collective hope that providing a sponsorship for community members who identify as LGBTQIA+ or who are allies will ensure that our campus and affiliates have welcoming and inclusive environments.
