Universities are hubs for innovation with diverse, independent research groups that often have common data needs. The Institute for AI in Medicine (I.AIM) focuses on identifying high-priority data access and analytics needs at Northwestern and beyond, developing efficient, scalable and secure data pipes and analysis methods to speed up medical augmented intelligence research and translation.

Enhancing infrastructure: Health Data Gymnasium

I.AIM is building the infrastructure necessary to accelerate innovation in a representative workforce. The Health Data Gymnasium combines a robust data library with elements of a data academy welcoming to researchers at all skill levels and backgrounds. 

An ecosystem supporting training, tools, and data is necessary to support strong workforce development, accelerate operations, and remove barriers for research and innovation. The Health Data Gymnasium combines the rigor/public trust of academia with the scale and efficient data handling of industry.
