Health Equity Council

The Health Equity Council at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine fosters an environment focused on advancing health equity within the community. With thoughtful leadership and innovative approaches, we spearhead a range of critical initiatives including:

  • Facilitating conflict resolution to address equity-related challenges
  • Conducting climate surveys to identify areas for improvement in health equity
  • Organizing campus-wide discussions to engage the community in equity-focused dialogue
  • Promoting cross-cultural awareness to reduce barriers and foster understanding
  • Developing educational opportunities to address health inequities and advance healthy equity-driven practices

The Health Equity Council aims to empower students, faculty and staff with the knowledge and skills to drive systemic change in medical education.

Our Mission & Responsibilities

  • Elevate important health equity issues to the vice dean for Health Equity
  • Provide thought leadership on initiatives such as climate surveys, campus discussions, cross-cultural learning and professional development
  • Advise on strategies to attract, retain and support students, faculty and staff committed to health equity
  • Recommend approaches to ensure health equity efforts are well-coordinated and impactful

Council Membership

Our council draws strength from its varied perspectives, bringing together key stakeholders from across Feinberg. Our memberships span the varied experiences and roles within our institution: students, residents, postdoctoral trainees, faculty, administrators and allied health professionals.
